New Year = Cleanse Your Closet

Purging your closet can be so refreshing. What better time to dump out old trends and last years colors than the beginning of a new year! See below for how I cleanse my closet and keep my wardrobe fresh each year.

TIP 1 - Treat your closet like your own boutique. It's okay to have it color coded or organized by fabric or thickness, whatever makes you happy! Whatever you find yourself not wanting in your own 'store' get rid of. You're most likely not going to wear it again.
TIP 2- If you haven't worn it in a year, it's time to let it go. Take it to a thrift store if it's designer or just donate to goodwill. Just think of the room you can make in your closet for the next fashionable piece you could have instead. Don't be that girl trying to make your 7th grade mini skirt happen again.
TIP 3 - Anything damaged. If you accidentally ripped something and you have been meaning to fix it but haven't in the past 6 months you really don't love it. Bye felica.
TIP 4 - If it's two sizes to small or to big lets give that to goodwill. To be real if it's over 2 sizes to small and you keep saying you'll fit into it eventually. The time it would take you to loose the weight the healthy way it's most likely going to be out of style. If something is just to big to wear, goodwill would be more than happy to have it. Keep it real with your body and sizes, don't live in lala-land.
TIP 5 - You only wore it once and probably won't ever wear it again. You know those random items we buy for this festivals/concerts, wedding, or themed event that is a one and done (especially if you took a pic in it). I tend to either give these pieces to my friends or take to a consignment shop to get a little extra coffee money.
Hopefully now you have tons of room for this years latest styles. Life is to short, make room in your closet and buy the clothes you want.
